Ajnabi Ajnabi

Humsafar banke hum, saath hai aaj bhee
Fir bhee hai ye safar, ajnabi ajnabi

Raah bhee ajnabi, mod bhee ajnabi
Jaayen hum kidhar, ajnabi ajnabi

Zindagi ho gayee hai sulagta safar
Door tak aa raha hai dhuaan sa nazar
Jaane kis mod par kho gayee har khushi
Deke dard-e-jigar, ajnabi ajnabi

Humne chun chun ke tinke banaaya tha jo
Aashiyaan hasraton se sajaaya tha jo
Hai chaman mein wahi aashiyaan aaj bhee
Lag raha hai magar, ajnabi ajnabi

Kisko maaloom tha din ye bhee aayenge
Mausamon kee tarah dil badal jaayenge
Din hua ajnabi raat bhee ajnabi
Har ghadi har pahar, ajnabi ajnabi....

Che Guevara – Death and Resurrection

che-guevara-

The authors analyze US media constructions of Ernesto Che Guevara at the time of his death and 30 years later when his remains were buried in Cuba. At stake is the meaning of Che Guevara and his position in the historical narrative as his image changed from the radical revolutionary and enemy of the United States during the early 1960s to a global cult figure of the 1990s. This project is about a process of re-articulating Che Guevara as he moved from being a symbol of radical opposition and revolutionary change to a commodified expression of nostalgia. It is based on an understanding of communication as articulation, which–when located within institutional contexts–dominates the cultural field and forms consciousness.

Noori & Sain Zahoor singing Bulleh Shah

(Sain Zahoor)
Par par ilm te fazal hoyo
You read to become all knowledgable
Ve kadi apne aap nu parya nai
But you never read yourself
bajh bajh varnaye mandar-e-maseeti
You run to enter your mosques and temples
Va kadi mann apne vich varya nai
But you never entered your own heart
Larna Roz
Everyday
Shaitaan de naal
You fight satan

Ve kaday sapnay naal larya naai
But you never fight yourself
Bulleh Shah asmaani udhiyaan phiro naai
Bulleh Shah, you try grabbing that which is in the sky
Ve jera ghar betha unhoun phariya naai
But you never get hold of what's inside your own house
Bas kareen oh yaar ilumo

Stop seeking this knowledge (of the world) my friend
Bas kareen oh yaar ilumo

Stop this seeking my friend
Aik alif tere darkar
Only an alif (beginning or oneness) is what you need
Aik alif tere darkar; haq
Only an alif (beginning or oneness) is what you need; truth
Allah saieenya
God beloved

(Ali Noor begins)
Nii mein jaana
I'm going along
Jogi de naal
With the devotional one

(Ali Hamza begins)
Jo na janay
One who doesn't know...
Haq ki taqat
The strength of truth
Rab na deway us ko hemmat
God won't give them the strength
Hamm Man ke darya mein doobay
May he dip in the river of peace
Kaisi naiyaa kya manzidaar; haq
...; truth

Mirza Ghalib (Movie-Serial) - Nasruddin Shah

This is a very good movie based on the life of the famous poet Mirza Ghalib whose role is performed by a famous actor Naseeruddin Shah . The Serial- Movie is beautifully enhanced with Ghalib's ghazals sung by Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh. Tanvi Azmi is amongst the lead roles.

Mir Taqi Mir - Patta Patta

Patta patta, boota boota, haal hamaaraa jaane hai,
Jaane na jaane gul hi na jaane, baagh to saaraa jaane hai.

Aage us mutkabbar ke ham Khuda Khuda kiya karte hain,
Kab maujud Khuda ko woh maghrur khud-aara jaane hai.

Aashiq saa to saada koi aur na hoga dunya mein,
Ji ke zian ko ishq mein uske apna waara jaane hai.

Chaaraa gari beemari-e-dil ki rasm-e-shahr-e-husn nahin,
Warna dilbar-e-naadaan bhi is dard kaa chaara jaane hai.

Mehr-o-wafa-o-lutaf-o-inait, ek se waqif in mein nahin,
Aur to sab kuchh tanz-o-kanaya, ramz-o-ishara jaane hai.

Aashiq to murdah hai hamesha ji uthta hai dekhe use,
Yaar ke aa jaane ko yakaayak umr do baara jaane hai.

Tashna-e-khun hai apna kitna, Mir bhi naadaan, talkhi-kash,
Damdaar aab-e-tegh ko uske aab-e-gawara jaane hai.
