Sain Zahoor Ahmed

Sain Zahoor Ahmed is one of the leading sufi musicians from Pakistan. He spent all of his life singing at Sufi shrines. He had cut his first record in 2006 when he was awarded "best BBC voice of the year 2006" by the BBC.
He was born around 1945 in the Sahiwal region of Pakistani Punjab. It is said that he started singing at the age of five,he had dreamt of a hand beckoning him towards a shrine. He left his home at the age of thirteen, roaming the Sufi Shrines of Sind, Punjab and liberated Kashmir.
He had adopted the folk instrument Ektara.In 1989 he performed on a concert stage for the first time at the All Pakistan Music Conference, which brought him into musical prominence. Subsequently he has emerged as a leading performer in Pakistan, frequently appearing on TV and in concerts attended by President General Pervez Musharraf.In 2006 Sain had a record out (Awazay, sounds) with Matteela Records. In 2007 he helped produce the soundtrack to the Pakistani film Khuda Ke Liye.He is known to have learnt more than 10,000 songs and all being sufi.
