From Raga To Rock - Sanjay Deshpande

This man Sanjay Deshpande has developed a new Sitar which is known as Sanjaykhani Sitar. He has done this because the Sitar which is available in the market can only be used for Classical music. But by doing this he can play songs on his Sitar such as Jawaan Hai Mohabbat , Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, etc. He is just awesome.

Linkin Park - First Time

In the End
Yesterday was the first time that i ever listened a song by Linkin Park. I listened In The End and Numb. I liked these songs very much and then downloaded the whole discography of Linkin Park.

For those who don't know anything about Linkin Park, it is an American Rock band. It has been named 3rd greatest band of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay.

While surfing my one of the favorite blog i.e. 3 Quarks Daily , i came across this awesome video of Anwar Khurshid and Arshad Khan Thirakwa. The former is a sitar player who studied from Sitar School of Toronto and about the later i know just that he is a Tabla player and nothing more.

Today is the 143rd death anniversary of my favorite poet till date i.e. Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib. This post is just a tribute to Mirza Ghalib, Mirza Ghalib - Serial starring Naseeruddin Shah. The serial introduced the beautiful poetry of Ghalib to me which i rejoiced a lot. I think this is about 2-3 years ago. I am posting one of my favorite Ghazal by him in Gurumukhi.

For the last 2-3 days i have been gathering some initial knowledge about Basant Raga as Basant Panchami was around the corner . This video tells about the fact that there is a certain pattern of aroha and avroha with changes in it with vadi and samvadi . So this pattern as given in wikipedia is :-

• Aroh: Sa Ga Ma Dha Ni Sa
• Avroh: Sa Ni Dha Pa Ma, Ga Re Sa
• Vadi: Sa
• Samvadi: Ma

ਇਹ ਕੈਫੀ ਆਜ਼ਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਨਜ਼ਮ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤਰਜਮਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹੈ . ਮੈਂ ਸਕਿਬ ਮਕ਼ਸੂਦ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਧਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ .

ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਗੜਾਈ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ
ਕਿ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ ਓਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ, ਕਿ ਜ਼ਾਤ, ਇਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕੌਣ
